Asha Social Entrepreneurship Award 2011

Surya Nepal Private Limited Asha Social Entrepreneurship Award is the first of its kind to recognise innovative ideas, commitments and vision for social change. This award will recognise Nepalese social entrepreneurs who create value for people, planet and profit.
From a total of 66 applicants, 5 finalists have been chosen by a panel of eminent experts with diverse backgrounds. The award for each individual winner consists of a combination of financial, networking, mentoring and PR support.
Apart from this, there will also be two other events, a seminar in which experts will interact with the young entrepreneurs and visitors on how to access finance, means to develop business plans and ways to implement them. The second event will be a bazaar in which entrepreneurs can showcase their ventures and simultaneously learn, interact and share ideas with visitors and build networks.
Our vision is not only to acknowledge the unsung heroes but also showcase their ventures and the impact they have made, says Luna Shrestha Thakur, Founding Director, Change Fusion Nepal, the main organizer of the event. The event is supported by Nepal Business Initiative (NBI) and sponsored by Surya Nepal Pvt. Ltd.
We plan to make this Award into an annual event in which we will recognize and felicitate the hidden heroes ordinary Nepali people who have strived to bring about positive change in their communities and for their country by doing extraordinary work, shares Sanjiv Keshava, Managing Director, Surya Nepal Pvt. Ltd.
This award is not just limited to people within the Valley. It calls for entrepreneurs from all across the country, who in their own way have made a conscious effort towards the society as well. The seminar and bazaar will be held at Baber Mahal on November 18 and 19 and the award ceremony will be held on November 21 at Hotel Yak and Yeti.
